Q. 1. How has SMS brought about a silent revolution?

Ans. SMS, conceived as part of the GSM digital standard, has rapidly spread across countries as a swift means of communication. Its unique feature allows messages to be sent and received even during voice calls. The widespread demand and utilization of SMS have ushered in a silent revolution in global communication, marking a significant transformation in the field.

Q. 2. How do you think that SMS has now become the most preferred option for communication?

Ans. SMS possesses the ability to send and receive text messages on mobile phones, operating as a store-and-forward service using gateways. This feature, along with the convenience of sending messages during voice calls, distinguishes SMS from other communication methods. These attributes contribute to SMS being recognized as the most preferred option for communication.

Q. 3. What is the attractive feature of SMS? How does a voice call differ from SMS?

Ans. SMS employs SMSC to route messages, allowing delivery even when the recipient's mobile is switched off or out of coverage. Additionally, SMS is generally free to access. In contrast, a voice call occupies a dedicated radio channel for the entire call duration, while SMS travels separately above the radio channel via the signalling path. This distinction sets voice calls apart from SMS.

Q. 4. The launch of SMS has opened a new vista in the field of text communication." Explain.

Ans. The introduction of SMS has created a new perspective in communication, offering an effortless way for people to connect. Despite limitations on character count, particularly in current GSM networks, and the challenge of typing on small handset keypads, the enthusiasm for SMS remains undeterred. G. TRANSLATION

Translate into Hindi your mother tongue.

The beauty of SMS is that messages can be sent and received even while making voice calls. This is possible because a voice call takes over a dedicated radio channel for the duration of the call, while the short messages travel over and above the radio channel using the signalling path.

"SMS की सुंदरता यह है कि संदेश वाणी कॉल करते समय भी भेजे और प्राप्त किए जा सकते हैं। यह इसलिए संभव है क्योंकि वाणी कॉल आदर्श रेडियो चैनल पर कॉल के समय कब्जा करता है, जबकि छोटे संदेश रेडियो चैनल के ऊपर और उसका सिग्नेलिंग पथ का उपयोग करके चलते हैं।"
